Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a microchip and an electronic ear tag?+

The microchip is implanted under the skin: it is permanent, cannot fall off and cannot be tampered with. The electronic ear tag sits on the ear and is visible from a distance, but it can fall off or be swapped. Both use RFID.

Is the microchip certified?+

Yes. It is ICAR-certified, ISO 11784/11785 (FDX-B) standard, 134.2 kHz frequency — internationally recognized.

Do I need a reader to use the microchip?+

Yes. The reader reads the chip with no typing. We offer a USB reader, a Bluetooth reader (sends to phone/app) and a long-range stick reader.

What is the minimum order quantity?+

The minimum microchip order is 10 units, and the per-unit price drops with quantity.

Does it work for goats, sheep and cattle?+

Yes. Microchips and readers work for electronic ID and traceability of goats, sheep and cattle.
